One. I have a master’s degree in Library and Information Science, but I originally went to school to be a teacher. After the first year of the concurrent education program, I realized it wasn’t for me but I stayed in school for I still wanted to pursue an English Literature course. It wasn’t until my third year that my professor from the Children’s Literature course told me about the Library and Information Science program, feeling that it would suit me well. Still pondering it over, my friend Andja also mentioned it to me a couple of days later – she also thought I should pursue it. Hence, I prepared to apply for the master’s program. I have never regretted my decision.
Two. When I was a kid, everyone had to talk about what they wanted to be when they grew up in class. People said doctors, teachers, etc. I said a Sailor Scout or a Digi-destined…oh yeah, that totally made me popular in school (sarcasm my friends…complete and utter sarcasm). I didn’t really think about real-life careers until mid high school. I’m still waiting for my Digimon…just sayin’.
Three. I have an obsession with sky watching, to the point that it’s a danger to my physical being ha-ha! I love going for a walk and just looking at the sky; I get this nostalgia, with a big pit in my stomach and my chest tightens – all in a good way. It’s a freeing feeling, the sky. Even in a plane, I will simply put some tunes on and watch the sky and the land below. The escapism is just a wonderful feeling. If I could go back and change my career, I would’ve been a pilot. If I could be an animal, it would either be some sort of bird so I could fly…or a river otter (otters don’t fly…but they hold hands and it’s cute).
One. What is your weirdest bookish habit (i.e. reading three books at once, reading in certain spots, etc.)?
I have a tendency to read the last page of a book…I know, blasphemy in the book reading world! I read a book a long time ago that I fell in love with. When I got to the third book and nearing the end, a terrible thing happened and I lost it. I was so mad! So now I have trust issues…*cough* Veronica Roth *cough*.
I also have a tendency to re-read books, especially certain sections of a book. Not sure if that’s weird…but it’s a thing.
Two. Who is an author you will automatically buy when they release a new book no matter what?
Kelley Armstrong, hands down. I am completely and utterly obsessed with her writing. Even if I don’t have it in my budget, I make room in order to buy one of her books. The only time I won’t is if I’m waiting to get a certain collection of the hard covers.
Three. Who is your #1 all-time ship of all ships OTP? The ship you will go down with??
Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry from Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials Trilogy. That book both made me and destroyed me, especially Lyra and Will’s chemistry together. They’re rather young in the books, so you know it’s that cutesy young love – the first true love that we all love and long for even if it doesn’t last forever. It’s that experience of first learning to love. I had this long ago, around the time I read this. He’s not here anymore, but I’ll never forget him.
I can’t choose only one ship, sorry folks. The other is Chloe Saunders and Derek Souza from Kelley Armstrong’s The Darkest Powers Trilogy. These two are amazing! I love the connection they have, even though it’s not the typical romance. They’re pretty different, but that’s what makes each of them stronger. Reading about them makes you long for someone who loves and cares for you as much as they do for one another.
Four. What are your favorite types of movies/TV shows to watch?
Apparently zombies?! I have an obsession with The Walking Dead. You would think I wouldn’t with horror being one of the things I have trouble reading. But I love the survival part of it, trying to figure out what they are going to do next. Prison Break is also pretty high up there.
Movie wise, I tend to like coming of age and Disney. One of my all-time favourite films is Stand by Me, which I re-watch annually. Tangled is another personal favourite.
Five. What was the last book you read and what are top three books on your TBR?
The last book I completed was Dark Wine at Midnight by Jenna Barwin and the book I’m currently reading is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling. The top three books on my TBR list at the moment are: Omens by Kelley Armstrong, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and Anne of Green Gables Book One by L.M. Montgomery.
So, I’m going to nominate the following: Swetlana and Sandra @ reading through the nights, Bentley @ Book Bastion, Stacey @ Pretty Books, Flaneur @ The Jouska, Carrianne @ Cuppa ‘n Critiques, Laura Beth @ Hot Shot Headlines, Catherine @ Book Wonderland, Cody @ Vegan High Fives, Geoff @ The Oddness of Moving Things, and Susan @ SusanLovesBooks. There are more people who I love, but these are some of my top that I’m constantly going back to. I would nominate abookishbelle…but I don’t know if I can since she nominated me?!
One. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Two. What are your top three book/book series?
Three. What is your favourite colour and why (I.e. reminds you of something, etc.)?
Four. If you could become part of a book, television or movie fictional world, which one would it be?
Five. What are you currently reading? How would you rate it at this moment?
