Autism Speaks Walk Ottawa 2017: I Walk for a Cure

Hello everyone,

This is a really personal post and I’m a little uncomfortable posting it. I have this thing with posting too much about personal things and asking for aid as I feel like an inconvenience. People have their own problems, so why prod-cast mind? But this isn’t for me, and I’m not going to ruin something special due to my awkwardness.

On June 4th 2017, my friends and I will be participating in the Autism Speaks Canada Walk in Ottawa under the team Team Littlefoot. This cause is extremely important as both an outreach to draw attention to the seriousness of autism and to help others who go through hardships and trials everyday when facing the obstacles brought about due to autism.

My name is Jenna and I can’t thank my friends enough for joining me in this walk. I walk for my brother, Tyler Jeffrey. He is non-verbal, using both pictures and physically pointing at things to communicate his needs. He has changed over the years, but he’s still an amazing young man – though a troublemaker at times. He’s a lover of Disney films, sandwiches, and his best friend Scooby-Doo.

Team Littlefoot is not only to show his love for The Land Before Time franchise, but an important word as he can actually pronounce the word “Littlefoot” outloud. It’s pretty remarkable when he can articulate words, much more than you can possibly imagine.

I am so blessed to be fairly healthy and to have such an abundance of experiences in my belt. Tyler, however, will not get to share some of those experiences. His condition is severe, causing him to need 24 hour care and unable to experience as much as I get to. He’s extremely special and deserves so much more in life than he receives.

We invite you to donate and maybe even walk with us on June 4th, 2017. No donation is too small. Do not feel obligated to donate, since I don’t even know most of you personally. But a small helping hand is very much appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance for your support and for reading this! You have no idea how much this means to me and my family. If you would like to and are able to donate, click here to connect to my page or even to donate under another team members name.

Happy Reading and Warmest Regards,

Jenna
