Soul Ripping Romance Book Tag

Hello beautiful people!

Sad news…the Top Ten Tuesday posts will be on-hold until approximately August 15, 2017. The amazing posts over at The Broke and the Bookish have stated that there will be no posts until the said day; it sucks, but it’s also convenient…since I have a bunch of tags to catch up on and I want to really focus more posts towards the Let’s Talk Banned Books posts!

Any who…I was tagged by Kristin over at A Simply Enchanted Life for the Soul Ripping Romance Tag! Her blog…there are no words! The aesthetic and organization level of her blog is my ultimate dream and goal! It’s so beautiful, wonderfully done and so unique in comparison to other blogs…you have to go over and check out her blog now! Please do come back though, he-he.

Let’s go!!!

The Guide

  • Thank the person who tagged you and create a pingback to the original author – Nel at Reactionary Tales.
  • Share at least 5 (but more are welcome) romances that tugged your heart strings. They can be from books, movies, TV shows, manga; anything you can think of! They can be examples of sad tears, angry tears, happy tears or a combination of all three.
  • Nominate 5 (or more) people to share their emotional traumas
  • (Note: Try not to spoil the story for your readers in case they would like to check out these romances on their own)
Brace yourselves…

This was much more difficult than I anticipated. I wanted to stick to 5 couples, which made things even more challenging! For this, I’m probably going to stick mainly to books. I wanted to choose 5 from books, films, etc. but it was just getting out of hand ha-ha! Okay folks, here are my picks!

One. Lyra Belacqua & Will Parry from the His Dark Materials trilogy

Oh wow, what a shocker! I NEVER talk about Lyra at all…this is supposed to be sarcastic ha-ha. In Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy, these two go through so much together. They are young and unaware of the world around them, caught in a war among multiple worlds when they barely have discovered who they are and where they fit in life. Lyra and Will’s discovery of what attraction is in both the emotional and physical way is beyond words. I truly feel I have never found a couple in any form of media or entertainment that compares to these two. I can’t say more, since it basically spoils it…but I highly recommend reading it!

Two. Chloe Saunders & Derek Souza from the Darkest Powers trilogy

At first, I wasn’t sure if to place these two up here. There are SUCH more mersmorising and inspirational couples in the world of literature; however, I felt this compulsion to add these two. I really enjoyed seeing them grow. It wasn’t insta-love and the two definitely didn’t get along from the very first interaction, but they grew to love one another even through such trials and sufferings. It felt realistic and it felt real. I love these two and I was so happy when Kelley Armstrong decided to make these two a couple in the series. Honestly, the bickering between these two combined with their intense desire to protect one another is just wonderful.

Three. Molly Weasley & Arthur Weasley from the Harry Potter series

Bet you weren’t expecting that one, were ya! If I could have a relationship as strong as these two, I would be a very happy woman! Though they are busy raising a handful of children and tending to so many things, these two still find time to show their love and support for one another. They are so strong and passionate, you can’t help but dream that one day this will be your future. Not only are they loving to one another, but these two love and care for all those around them. I cannot get enough of these two!

Four. Alec Lightwood & Magnus Bane from the Mortal Instruments series

I’ve only read City of Bones, City of Ash, and City of Glass in the Mortal Instruments series – I thought it was only a trilogy for a couple of years and I haven’t gotten around to reading the last three since I want to re-read the first three now. However, I loved the interaction between Alec and Magnus from the start! It’s sexy, mystifying and intense. These two definitely have their struggles and I have no idea if they are still together in the other books…but I just love them dearly! It was my favourite romance in the book series and one of the more interesting side stories as well! They are so freakin’ adorable!

Five. Katniss Everdeen & Peeta Mellark from The Hunger Games trilogy

Yup, don’t care! People seem to either really love or really hate this couple. Personally, I fell in love with how their relationship and feelings for one another really changed them, especially Katniss. It made them better people, which I think it important in a romantic relationship. These two really struggled, going to the point of almost no return. It’s beautiful and magical and tragic all at once. Their happily-ever-after wasn’t exactly what everyone wanted, but it felt more real than what the public wanted. These two work together, healing one another.

  1. Aww I haven’t even noticed that the TTT hosts said there wouldn’t be any topics until August! That’s sad 😦
But omg the romance between Peeta and Katniss DEFINITELY tugged at my heart strings! They were one of the first bookish couples I ever shipped!!! 😍

  2. Molly and Author are goals. I love how it’s such a good and wholesome relationship, unlike we see in most novels these days. I actually am team Gale though. #sorrynotsorry XD I can’t explain it, but I just didn’t like Peeta that much. I really need to re-read the whole Hunger Games Series though, because it was so long ago that I read the books.

    1. Molly x Arthur are life! I just love them! And that’s okay ha-ha! I liked Gale for certain reasons but began to really dislike his character in the final book. I get the love for Gale though 😊😊😊
