Hello beautiful people!
As you may know from some of my Wrap-Up posts, I started a subscription with OwlCrate this year. Seeing as I will probably partake in book box subscriptions for more months that I should, I figured I would make a post about the things I find! Enough people do these, but it still feels like a fun idea.
This will be a VERY IRREGULAR post, not a MONTHLY post; I know I can’t afford to buy them every month but I will make an unboxing post whenever I do receive one.
The theme for November 2017 was Castles, Courts & Kingdoms. There was a number of SUPER exciting things, in addition to a book that I’m extremely excited to read!
People do these “foot and book” posts ALL the time on Instagram…so I attempted. Fun times, my friends.
One thing I have to say is that I absolutely adore how OwlCrate always has a guide on the inside of the box regarding “how to” unbox. It’s super helpful for first timers and it’s a fun thing to take a picture of and add to your unboxing shenanigans. Any who, this is how it looks when you receive it and how it looks when it’s opened.
Also…how did I JUST find out that you can make circular photos on WordPress?
Look at my fanciness! Okay, I attempted; it’s really hard to fit EVERYTHING in ONE photo and STILL make it look nice. The items that come in the box are:
- The Glass Spare (The Glass Spare, #1) by Lauren DeStefano
- Signed Bookplate and Letter from Lauren DeStefano
- OwlCrate exclusive Gemstone Tattoos
- Lord of the Rings inspired Elven Bread Soap from Fizzy Fairy Apothecary
- Game of Thrones inspired Blackberry Mint Lip Balm from Geek Fire Labs
- The Grishaverse inspired Second Army Brooch from Juniper and Ivy Designs
- Harry Potter inspired”Expecto Patronum” Beanie from OwlCrate
- A Court of Mist and Fury inspired Notebook from Stella’s Bookish Art
The lip balm smells SUPER good and feels really soft on your lips, and it doesn’t taste bad if you accidentally lick your lips…yup…I try to check ALL the possibilities. The beanie is SUPER comfy and warm, which is great for Canada’s freakin’ cold winters. I thought the notebook was REALLY adorable, yet I haven’t read the series the quote on the book was taken from…so I feel the need to read it now. The artwork and design of the brooch is stunning; honestly, Juniper and Ivy designs outdid themselves. NOW I just need to read that series…I believe it’s a magnet, which I prefer over a pin.
I haven’t tried the soap yet, but I plan to once the soap my roommate and I have runs out. It does smell REALLY good though. The note from the author is cute, but one thing I probably won’t keep is the fake tattoos; it’s not really my thing, especially since I plan to get REAL tattoos soon.
I plan to read The Glass Spare in the New Year so I didn’t want to get TOO into it, but I did read the first two chapters to get a feel for it. So far, it’s a REALLY good book. The themes are pretty adult I find, even though it’s YA. I also feel as though it’s going to be a page turner; DeStefano writes with the PERFECT amount of detail…not too much but not too little. Our heroine also seems like an AWESOME independent strong female lead…which really, what’s not to love about that. It took EVERY bit of me not to continue reading it, but I have books from authors and publishers that NEED to be done…so it has to wait…ugh.
Near the bottom of this fantastic OwlCrate Box is the theme for December 2017…Seize the Day! Some hints that have been given regarding what the box will contain are items relating to Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Everything, Everything, The Serpent King, and more!
Woot! First unboxing post complete! Please let me know if you guys liked this layout, if you wanted more, if it was too much, not detailed enough, or anything else that’s on your mind! I really appreciate the feedback you all provide and honestly use it to make this blog better!
Did any of you receive this box? What are your thoughts?
