Hello wonderful peeps!
I’m writing this post in advance…so I have no idea what the week has been like so far. From my years of Christmas vacation experiences though, it’s probably crazy…absolutely nuts…completely bonkers…and I probably love it. Let’s just mosey right into this one!
Let’s start with the most obvious one: reading. Yes, I’m a lover of literature. My mom says all the time that when I was a toddler, I would INSIST on reading myself. I couldn’t ACTUALLY read yet, but I would follow the lines and make up a story, turning each page until I reached the end. Can one be born a bookworm? If so, my mom’s determined I was.
Yoga and HIIT are two relatively new hobbies I’ve acquired. Honestly, fitness and I never really mixed in my teenage years. In my early twenties, I started to become frustrated with my lack of fitness and my unhealthy ways. Eventually, I started hitting the gym. However…IT WAS SO BORING…probably because I had NO idea what I was doing.
Then…I found yoga. Yoga is beautiful and mesmerizing, both uncomfortable yet comfortable at the same time. The better I get at poses and learning to meditate properly, the better I feel. For someone who overthinks 90% of my awake moments, yoga’s the perfect thing for me. I’ve slacked recently and started focusing more on HIIT, but I plan to get right back into it during the holidays.
In order to build strength to reduce the chance of injuries, I also joined a HIIT gym; what positive vibes! Honestly, it’s for ALL fitness levels and the people make you feel so welcomed. I’ve learned so many things (for instance, my squats and dead-lifts need work…sigh) and can’t wait to grow even stronger. These two fitness activities completely balance one another out, strengthening one another so I grow in both areas.
The last hobby I’ll talk about is sightseeing and exploration. Whether it’s to a new country or a neighbouring city or to a local festival, I love exploring the world’s hidden treasures. From EDM concerts to a leisure kayak adventure, I love just getting out there and experiencing things I used to be too nervous to do. As much as I love reading about adventures, it’s also so much fun going out and making your own.
Some other hobbies include: rollerblading, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding (new hobby!), roller-coaster riding (oh yes, I love the adrenaline), swimming, photography (also new), music/singing, and bouldering.
Some hobbies I want to explore include: dancing (specifically shuffling and Latin), skiing, long-boarding, and acro-yoga.
How about you? What are some of your hobbies?
