Start of Time

Gabrielle Aplin

Gabrielle Aplin’s a tremendous indie folk artist from the United Kingdom, who rose to fame through her YouTube channel (Wikipedia). I immediately grew fond of her elegantly strong and emotional voice, with a talent to grasp her audiences’ attention and fill them with all sorts of emotions.

Start of Time is the first song that introduced me to Aplin’s talent when I began watching the television show Teen Wolf. According to a post on her Tumblr page, “Start Of Time is having an idea so different and finding someone who shares the same thoughts and beliefs.” The lyrics to this song really stuck with me in the most incredible way; it brought these feelings of loss and loneliness, but then this beautiful euphoric feeling of hope and love and light. It’s as though Gabrielle took my current emotions at the time and wrote them into a song…it’s truly incredible when you find a song like that.

Oh today I’m just a drop of water
And I’m running down a mountainside
Come tomorrow I’ll be in the ocean
I’ll be rising with the morning tide

There’s a ghost upon the moor tonight
Now it’s in our house
When you walked into the room just then
It’s like the sun came out

I’m an atom in a sea of nothing
Looking for another to combine
Maybe we could be the start of something
Be together at the start of time

There’s a ghost upon the moor tonight
Now it’s in our house
When you walked into the room just then
It’s like the sun came out
It’s like the sun came out

And the day is clear
My voice is just a whisper
Louder than the screams you hear
It’s like the sun came out

    1. OH MY GOSH! I thought you were awesome before…but now you are truly amazing! No one EVER knows who I’m talking about when I mention her name…it’s so sad!! I love “Power of Love”. I’m posting another one of her songs in this challenge, so you’ll get to see that either tomorrow or Sunday 🙂

Of course! I can’t wait to discover some of your favourite songs! 🙂
