Hello beautiful people!
Would you look at that…another bullet journal post! As I mentioned in my previous post, I COMPLETELY forgot the long process of creating a new bullet journal for a new year…which is why this is rather delayed. My bad…
Any who, here’s my first monthly entry for 2019!
Other than some images I found on Pinterest, this layout was just REALLY random. I was super happy to see snow again, so I figured I would try to incorporate that into the layout.
- Tombow Dual Brush Pen Set, 10-Pack, Landscape Colors
- Tombow Dual Brush Pen Set, 10-Pack, Portrait Colors
- Sakura 30062 6-Piece Pigma Micron Ink Pen Set, Black
The colours I used specifically for this set up are 228, 526, 528, 800, and 942. For the Sakura Pens, I used number 005, 01, 02, and 03. Side Note: The little dots on the “Weekly View” pages are trackers for my water intake; one dot equals 1 cup of water.
Changes & additional notes
As I mentioned in my new journal for 2019 post, I decided I would finally try using a “key” this year. This is used to track your day-to-day tasks and the progression of their completion. Not only do I plan to do this for my personal day-to-day activities, but I plan to use this to track my reading progress and my blog posts.
When I begin my February 2019 layout, I plan to create a much more minimalist aesthetic; I love the “doodles”, but I found this layout went a little chaotic. My chaos goes into my “diary” journal one!
One thing you’ll notice is that I removed the “highlights” section from my bullet journal. I’ve decided I want to try a “diary style” journal this year, with the hopes of getting back into poetry. This is also where I plan to write highlights and what not throughout the year, rather than in this one.
January 2019 Layout

January Title Page
An easy way to get a neat looking layout without TOO much hard work is finding scrap paper and images, and then sticking them EVERYWHERE! The images I found from Google images and the scrap paper is actually a “take-out” baggy that I kept. You can use glue for the images, but I prefer double sided tape.
January Monthly Calendar Spread
To be honest, I actually find this page a little boring…I wish I did something more along the top and less of the random “sparkle” decor going on. But it’s clean and easy to use/create.
Habit Tracker & Book Blog Tracker
The habit tracker is pretty self explanatory; just colour the number when you complete it. This is my “go-to” layout, since it fits a lot of habits without me having to do a sideways layout.
The book blog tracker is a NEW idea! Blossoms and Bullet Journals wrote a wonderfully written post on ways to keep organized as a blogger. One of them was tracking current reads (#6) and another was writing post ideas (#3). I decided to combine these two ideas and voila! The squares match my “key” from my previous post – empty is a task, half is the task has started, and coloured in is complete. If I have to migrate it to the next month, and arrow will be shown in the box. This will also help me with my monthly wrap ups as well!
Habit Tracker & Book Blog Tracker
This is how I keep myself accountable for…well, spending too much on food and books and stationary. The little icons beside items under my other expenses act as another key. When I write something under my expense tracker, I write one of those little icons beside it. At the end of the month, it makes it easier to tally everything in the budget tracker section.
There’s actually another extra “expense tracker” page done with an additional blank page, but I didn’t feel the need to showcase it.
Weekly Spread Part One
The little dots are to help me track my water intake, with each dot equating to one cup of water. I use to the “key” to track everything I have written in here, from completion to migrated to cancelled.
Funny side note, that photo I placed is actually to cover up a mistake I made…a GREAT way to cover up your mistakes!
Weekly Spread Part Two
Basically the same as the previous post…nothing to add!
Weekly Spread Part Three & Notes
The notes section is DEFINITELY a great idea, since it allows you to place some extra notes for your future monthly entries so that you don’t FORGET…which I tend to do, which is why I added this.
If there’s anything else you want to see regarding bullet journals and my process, please let me know in the comments section!
