O.W.Ls Read-a-Thon 2019: Update || Challenge

Hey beautiful people!

Last month, I decided to participate in the O.W.Ls Read-a-Thon that I saw both Rachael @ Dog-Eared Pages and Alex @ WhimsyPages posted about. This was created by Book Roast! Unfortunately … I didn’t take into consideration how long my reading hiatus would be with re-watching ALL of the Marvel films before seeing End Game … yup, I’m one of THOSE …

After seeing Alex @ WhimsyPages wrap up post about the same tag, I commented on how I completely failed. She replied saying a few people started late, so they are continuing on into May/June so they can still participate in the NEWTs. Now … since I took about a two week reading hiatus, I’m going to give myself until Wednesday May 15th to finish the challenge — I think that’s MORE than fair.

But while we’re at it, I thought I would do some updates — books I finished, books I’ve switched out for others, etc. The below will just be a quick rundown of the career path I’ve chosen and my reading status!

My Wizarding Career Path: Hogwarts Professor

In order to complete this, I’ll have to pass 7 O.W.Ls in total:

  1. A subject you wish to teach
  2. Defense Against the Dark Arts
  3. 5 additional subjects of your choice

The subject I would like to teach is Care of Magical Creatures. The remaining 6 subjects are: Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, Herbology, Muggle Studies, and Potions.

Care of Magical Creatures | Land animal on the cover

Status: READ

Charms | Age-line: read an adult work

Status: READ

For the Blood is the Life by Joe Albanese

Defense Against the Dark Arts | Reducto: title start with an “R”

Status: READ

The Reckoning (Darkest Powers, #3) by Kelley Armstrong

Divination | Set in the future

Status: READ

Kill Code: A Dystopian Science Fiction Novel by Clive Fleury

Herbology | Plant on the cover

The Many Adventures of Peter and Fi Volume I: Homecoming by Kelvyn Fernandes

Muggle Studies | Contemporary

Status: DNF’d

On Christmas Day by Rosie James

Famous in a Small Town by Emma Mills

Potions | Next ingredient: sequel

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2) by Leigh Bardugo

This is totally doable, since I only have three to go — all of which have already been started! Are you participating? How did your O.W.Ls go?

  1. I actually didn’t really look into the OWL Readathon until really late in the month, but when I looked over the prompts, and then looked at the 19 books I read in April, I realized that I had completed all but two of the O.W.L.s, so I think I did all right.

And you’ve done a great job. Good luck finishing your last couple O.W.L.s by your deadline extension.

      1. It would be an impressive feat if somebody actually did have them all. There’s just so many 24 Hour events, week long, month long, and even year long reading challenges. We bookworms are an impressive bunch.

    1. Thanks, love ❤ I am SO CLOSE!!! I think I can do it JUST in time.

Oh yes … I won't be rewatching those for a while … even when End Game is available for purchase … I love them all, but I think I'll be emotionally distraught for a while lol! I'm excited for all the other Marvel movies to come out though!
