Hello beautiful people!
Firstly, thank you very much Lauren @ twenty-seven letters for tagging me in the Book Blogging Firsts Tag! I just thought this was the cutest thing!
Lauren has a BEAUTIFUL blog — the images and headers and aesthetic’s just lovely! And her blog has a lot of great content, so make sure to give her website a look! Oh and secondly … SUPER sorry Lauren for taking FOREVER to respond to this tag … SO MANY TAGS!
The Creator and the Questions
After some detective Googling skills, I discovered that the original creator of this tag is Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight. There are a few more questions on the original post, so I thought I would list them all below!

First blog name and design
My one and only blog name has been Bookmark Your Thoughts, which my mom actually helped me come up with. I basically told her I wanted something with a play on words and the word ‘bookmark’ … and voila! She’s a genius!
The original design? Man … I don’t even know … technically, I had this blog BEFORE I used it as a book blogger, since it was for school. So I’ve had it since 2015 … which is a LONG time ago! I’m fairly certain it was the “buttons” WordPress theme and it was very pink.
First blog post
Apparently, my first blog post was Books I’ve Read: The 2017 Version. I had seen some people have a specific page listing all the books they read that year … but man oh man … I did NOT keep up with this well. So I stopped doing this sometime in 2018 ha-ha!
First book review
The first review I published was Red Queen (Book One) by Victoria Aveyard. *cringe* … I’m not saying my reviews are CLOSE to perfection at the moment, but I’ve come a LONG way with reviews THANK GOSH. So going back and seeing this was rather … embarrassing to say the least. But it was also kind of fun, since it reminds me of where it all began!
First meme participated in
Okay … I wasn’t sure if this meant like those “weekly” things or a tag or a challenge … so here’s one of each!
- First weekly: Top Ten Tuesday || Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book
- First tag/award: Mystery Blogger Award
- First challenge: 52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge [Week One]: Why start this challenge?
First discussion post
I remember this one! Aweeee … the good ol’ days. I wrote a discussion post called Bookish Thoughts: “Bibliomania: the strange history of compulsive book buying” after reading an interesting article regarding the concept of bibliomania. It was SUPER interesting, especially since I related (and still relate) so much to this article! Unfortunately, there wasn’t much discussion since I was SO new and didn’t really have a lot of attention in the blog community yet. But it was still fun to write!
First author interview
Funny enough, my first author interview was this year! I had been asked if I wanted to do an author interview in previous years, but I was so nervous and didn’t know what to do. So when author Clive Fleury mentioned he would be interested in doing an interview if I felt up to it, I figured I should at least TRY to give it a-go. It was actually a lot of fun! If you’re interested, you can view it here!
First book blog I followed
I honestly have NO idea … especially since I followed some on Tumblr before I came over to WordPress. Probably the two people mentioned in the next section … On Tumblr, I’m FAIRLY certain the first book blog I followed was Jessica @ Books & Cupcakes. This reminds me that I really need to update my Tumblr soon …
So I had two follow me around the exact same time. And the really COOL thing is I STILL talk to both of them: Lois @ My Midnight Musings and Laura Beth @ Hot Shot Headlines. Both of these lovely women are inspirations in the blogging community — they’re kind, intelligent and provide a great deal of knowledge on their blogs. If you aren’t following them, you are most DEFINITELY missing out on some great content and being friends with amazing people … so go visit their sites please!
First digital review copy
Dark Wine at Midnight (Book One) by Jenna Barwin — I remember being in complete and utter shock, since my blog had only been “truly” active for a couple of months when Jenna reached out to me. And luckily, I actually got a free copy of a book that I enjoyed!
First physical review copy
The Chronister Cliff (Book One) by Simone van der Steeg — I received a discounted version to review this novel. I would’ve received a free copy if I got the digital, but I was NOT feeling another eBook. It was SUPER cheap to get the paperback, so I did. Though hard to get into at first, this was a really neat story! I only stopped reading the series because it wasn’t translated yet. I think it is now, but I’ll probably re-read this first before I decide to start the second and third novels.
First book I read because of other bloggers
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon — This book seemed to RANDOMLY gain in popularity a couple years after it released, POSSIBLY because of the movie coming out. A number of bloggers had reviewed this … but what I thought was SO cool is that there was this MAJOR divide between people loving it and people hating it … so I wanted to see where I stood. I ended up being in the middle, which is fine with me. Fun Fact: it’s this book that got me into contemporary and coming of age novels!
This was SO much fun and so nostalgic — I can’t believe how far I’ve come as a blogger and as a persons during my years here on Bookmark Your Thoughts. And honestly, I’m so grateful for being a part of such a loving and supportive community. With some of the hate going on in the world and other social media platforms, it’s so nice to see a group of people that TRULY raise one another up and just look out for one another.
Thank you for making my blogging experience so grand and wonderful! You’re all beautiful human beings!
