N.E.W.T.s Read-a-Thon 2019: Update || Challenges

Hey beautiful people!

So … it happened again. I began reading a book during this challenge and just … couldn’t get into it. This month, I decided to take part in a read-a-long of Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk … but I honestly couldn’t get past chapter 3. I don’t know if it’s a MOOD thing or the writing style, but I FINALLY decided to NOT force myself and just … well, pick a new book!

As the post title suggests, this is literally just an update post. Since I’m updating you on the books I’ve swapped, I will also post my status updates like I did for my O.W.L.s Read-a-Thon update.

Let’s get to it!

My Wizarding Career Path: Hogwarts Professor

For the O.W.L.s, I chose the Hogwarts Professor career path (I DEFINITELY plan to try the Librarian career next year). My O.W.L.s posts: ORIGINAL, UPDATE, and WRAP UP. My ORIGINAL N.E.W.T. post.

In order to complete this, I’ll have to pass 7 N.E.W.T.s in total:

  1. “O” in subject you wish to teach
  2. “E” in Defense Against the Dark Arts
  3. At least 2 “A’s” in secondary subjects of your choice

The subject I would like to teach is Care of Magical Creatures. The remaining 3 remaining subjects are: Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic and Herbology.

Overall, I need to complete:

  • Grades A, E and O in Care of Magical Creatures
  • Grades A and E in Defense Against the Dark Arts
  • Grade A in History of Magic
  • Grade A in Herbology

  1. It looks like it is going pretty well!
I’m also doing really good! I need to read three more, and I’m already reading one of those!

    1. Trying ha-ha! I’m hoping to catch up this weekend, since I don’t have TOO many plans (and plan to keep it that way). I think I can get two … maybe three books done this weekend.

Nice! I’m glad you’re doing well with it! I’m DEFINITELY doing this challenge again next year, but I’m going to go for the Librarian profession πŸ™‚

  2. It looks like everything is going pretty well, Jenna! I haven’t read any of these yet actually, but I recently bought a Study in Charlotte, so I’m hoping to tackle it soon! ❀ I totally get you with Fight Club. Although I haven't tried reading it before, I pick up so many books and can't seem to get into them in the first few chapters either. Haha!

    1. Thanks love! I’m hoping to finish 2 or 3 books this weekend, since I don’t have too many plans. And I’m cutting it a little close with time ha-ha!

The first Study in Charlotte is pretty good! The second is … meh? But apparently the third and fourth are supposed to be fantastic (fingers crossed).

I REALLY wanted to enjoy Fight Club. I didn’t put it as a DNF on my Goodreads because I do plan to try it again. I might audiobook it next time though. I think it might be easier ah-ha!

  3. Yea.. I didn’t stick with my original TBR either. I think only 1 out of 6 books I read was from the original TBR. Ahah So I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to read all 9 books for the prompts this month. But that’s fine, cause I read some amazing books in August ❀
