Hello beautiful people!
Wow … okay … so … did August even happen? Seriously, I feel like I had little to NO time for reading, let along blogging. I feel as though I did pretty well, but I’m excited for things to settle down now in September … I need a people break ha-ha! Is that mean?
I’m going to try my Instagram photos again ha-ah! I wish I could make them smaller but I don’t have that option … blarg.

Mini #bookreview : Nocturnal by @wilderpoetry . ⭐⭐⭐⭐ . "you loved me quietly, like footprints in the snow. (you were there and i wasn't expecting you.)" . As a lover of poetry, I had to get my hands on Nocturnal. This free verse style collection of poetry captivates you with every word, drawing upon themes of love and loss and self exploration through the use of the written word and nature symbolism. . As poetry is subjective in nature, this review will focus more on relatability and the flow of the collection. Again, this is my reading experience, which may differ from your own. . Pros 🌙 The structure of the poems, the title of the novel and the design of the collection is not only stunning but relatable to the poems within its pages. 🌙 The poems are very relatable, diving into a multitude of themes: loss, love, toxic relationships, self love and more. 🌙 Not only is it a fun poetry style, but Wilder Poetry accurately reflects 'free verse' style. . Woe 🌙 There are times when I had difficulty identifying when a poem ended and a new one began. 🌙 Though all beautiful themes, I found theme scattered rather than carefully flowing from one theme to the next. . Have a wonderful day and happy reading! . Full review on my blog. Mini #bookreview : milk and honey by @rupikaur_ . ⭐⭐⭐⭐ . "i was made heavy half blade and half silk difficult to forget and not easy for the mind to follow" . Book 1 / 7 for #newtsreadathon2019 . Finally reading this novel after 2 years of fearing my emotions couldn't handle it, I've fallen madly in love with Kaur's magical and beautiful writing. Kaur digs DEEP into issues that society chooses to ignore. Completely raw and open, Kaur opens herself up through poetry, reminding us that we aren't alone … that things that have happened to us don't determine who we are nor do they control us. We are strong … and we have voices. . As poetry is subjective in nature, this review will focus more on relatability and the flow of the collection. Again, this is my reading experience, which may differ from your own. . Pros 🌙 'milk and honey' smoothly flows from one topic to the next, reading like a story rather than simply a collection. 🌙 Kaur doesn't shy away from the 'difficult to digest' topics, showing the world a need for change and showing those who have experienced such things than you are powerful and can overcome anything. 🌙 Kaur not only has perfected the art of free versw poetry, but she connects cultures through her writing style and grammatical choices. . Woe 🌙 None. But since a few poems went over my head, I can't fully give this a 5 star. . Have a wonderful day and happy reading! . Full review on my blog. Mini #bookreview : A Study in Charlotte (Book One) by Brittany Cavallaro . ⭐⭐⭐ . "Truth be told, I liked that blurriness. That line where reality and fiction jutted up against each other." . For as long as I can remember, I’ve been in love with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes series. From the original stories to later film adaptations, I can’t seem to get enough of the grand adventures of John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. So when Rebecca at Bookishly Rebecca mentioned she would buddy read the Charlotte Holmes series with me, I couldn’t refuse. Cavallaro’s A Study in Charlotte brings to life the magic of Doyle’s mystery series. For the most part, I couldn’t put the book down. . To view Rebecca's thoughts, please visit my site for she doesn't have Instagram but I have linked her review in my own. . Pros 🌙 Cavallaro's novel provides a uniquely different approach to other retellings, making the story original but still authentic to Doyle's epic tale. 🌙 Whether it be mundane or epic fighting moments, this book was impossible to put down. 🌙 Though a mystery novel, Cavallaro explores a number of different topics and themes that are important and relatable to people. 🌙 Watson and Holmes' connection is not insta-love, as there's more substance to it. This is very much a bonds of friendship novel more than anything. . Woes 🌙 The chapters are extremely large and discuss too many events. 🌙 As much as I love Watson and Holmes', I found Watson too needy at times and Holmes overly manipulative. 🌙 Rather than gradual and seamless, Watson and Holmes’ friendship feels EXTREMELY rushed and forced. 🌙 There’s honestly VERY LITTLE moments where the author fleshes out the characters, making it hard to find a connection with Watson and Holmes. . Have a wonderful day and happy reading! . Full review on my blog. Even with my chaotic month, I still managed to keep on top of my challenge:
Honestly, not much. I updated my theme since … I plan to go self-hosted this month! WOOOOOOT! I didn’t HAVE to switch it, but apparently it makes things a little easier. Fingers crossed the process goes over well! I have to figure out still if it’s worth it right now, since I already paid my subscription renewal. If I can get a refund, I will definitely go self-hosted!
Life’s been good but … BUSY! I like my family and friends … but I really, REALLY need a break from people this month. I feel like a ROTTEN person … but I’m unfortunately one of those people that requires breaks from human interaction ha-ha! Fitness was … basically non-existent this month with holidays and being sick, but I plan to get back on track!
