September 2019 || Monthly Wrap Up

Hello beautiful people!

As you can probably see, this month was chaos ha-ha! I apparently posted this without being FINISHED this morning … welcome to my life at the moment ha-ha! I swear, one month without a bullet journal made things rather difficult.

I’m going to try my Instagram photos again ha-ah! I wish I could make them smaller but I don’t have that option … blarg. I only ended up reading two books this month but I’m hoping to have one done today ha-ha!

[ #bookreview ] : The Case for Jamie (Book Three) by Brittany Cavallaro : ⭐⭐⭐ . "Reading took me away from myself, so I tried to be reading all the time." . This is, by far, my favourite book in Cavallaro’s series (for now … there’s still one more book left). It’s as though Cavallaro heard our complaints about the first two and amended as many of those quarrels as possible for The Case for Jamie. I’m THOROUGHLY surprised. Though I rated this as a three cups of tea like the other two, I still think this novel excels in comparison to it’s predecessors … Goodreads needs to add a “.5” system to their rating scale. . Pros 🌙 The added alternating POV provides more insight into the character development and plot growth. 🌙 The shorter chapters and focused plot allow for a more concise and organized novel. 🌙 Cavallaro brings more attention to realistic depictions of trauma and a focus on the more serious undertones of the novel. . Woes 🌙 Though the alternating point of views are a fun addition, Charlotte’s story felt boring at times and less engaging. 🌙 In connection to the point above, the plot feels not fully well put together. Honestly, there are MULTIPLE instances where I forgot what the plot is about. 🌙 Some of the side characters’ reactions to helping Jamie and Charlotte are frustrating, using the victim card on themselves rather than being supportive. . Have a wonderful day and happy reading! . Full review on my blog. The Last of August (Book #2) by Brittany Cavallaro

Rating:

Synopsis: “Watson and Holmes: A match made in disaster. Jamie Watson and Charlotte Holmes are looking for a winter-break reprieve after a fall semester that almost got them killed. As you may have noticed, I didn’t end up posting a September Bullet Journal spread. After the chaos that was August, I had NO motivation. And I’ve been playing around with home decor/organization and other methods of budgeting, which took a higher priority. But I do miss having my journal for tracking my life, so I WILL be posting one for October (here). Two MAJOR changes from my previous monthly spreads is how I organize my budget tracker and the use of Trello. Rather than listing all my expenses, I use an app called Spendee. If you want me to post about it and how I tie it in with my journal, let me know! As for Trello, I use this to organize: post ideas, buddy reads, books to read each month, etc. If you want to see me post about how I use Trello, please let me know!

Other than that, there aren’t many updates. I DID change my feature images to maintain that minimalist look I’m going for and my banner (it was one of the three that I got from the creator a while back). I did mention going self-hosted but I plan to wait until my membership that I already paid for with WordPress is up (I don’t feel like figuring out refunds and what not).

After an INSANELY busy August, I basically wanted to hide from society for a bit ha-ha! I felt like I didn’t have time for not only blogging and reading, but other important parts of my life. Yoga, fitness, coffee shop dates, cleaning the condo … everything kind of fell out of place. So September was me basically playing catch up and FINALLY getting my life back on track.

Home wise, the biggest change was my MASSIVE re-org and GIGANTIC donation dump. I’m REALLY trying to go minimalist in my home, but I’ve been putting it off. Finally … I bit the bullet money wise and just did it … and I’m SO thrilled! I even have a cute little desk area for blogging now, which is nice. I’ll have to post some pictures eventually … if that’s something people are interested in ha-ha!

My friend Jalayna and I went to CityFolk this year, which was AMAZING! We saw Rush, LIVE, Our Lady Peace, The East Pointers and Robert Plant! Then later this month, we did a day trip to Montreal and went to old Montreal … the buildings are rustic and there’s all this cobblestone … which is a BIG aesthetic thing when you live in Canad ha-ha!

Oh … question. Would you guys BE interested in lifestyle posts at all? I just ask because some people ask about my travels, fitness routines and my minimalist transition at home so I don’t know if that’s something you guys would actually like posts about. Let me know!

  1. Thanks for the mention and I’m glad you enjoyed the tag! Look forward to reading your answers… Once life is a bit less hectic. Though, you still reviewed three boos which would be a good month for me anyway! So can’t be doing too bad despite the chaos.

  2. I totally know the feels playing catch-up this month, I felt like I’ve done nothing in comparison to August! Its now a year until I get married and I feel like I’m no further forward with anything! Haha.

Amazing post as always! I would love some lifestyle posts! Nice to know the blogger behind the blog!

Happy Spooking (from tomorrow) hope you have a lovely October!

    1. Basically since the end of June, I feel as though I’ve fallen behind a bit. But I feel the groove coming back now. OH MY GOSH! EARLY CONGRATS!

And thank you for your input! It’s something I’ve been playing around with the idea of adding certain lifestyle elements but wasn’t too sure yet. AND HAPPY SPOOKING!

      1. I feel like as Autumn and Winter come along I’ll be spending a lot more time in the house getting cosy and catching up on some serious reading!

        THANK YOU!!! So excited!!

I think it would be a nice feature, and it’s something more to add! Hope you have a lovely October!!

      2. YES! Me too! What I’m TRYING to do now though is read a little every night. For YEARS, my way of reading was sit and finish it in one day. But I just DON’T have the time for that … which is why I start falling behind. So many goal for October is to read a couple of pages or chapters every night. I’m also on the hunt for some audiobooks so I can listen at work.

      3. I might try that instead! I was exactly the same, just reading and reading until it was finished but now I have so much other adult things to do I just can’t do it anymore! Sounds like a more manageable goal definitely! That’s how I get most my reading done now, is through audiobooks at work!

  3. Sounds like you had a busy month! Cleaning up and donating things is awesome! I try to do it every 6 months or so, but I’ve been really lazy this past summer. I truly need to go through things and donate them. It’s amazing how much stuff I have that I don’t use!
That concert sounds like it was a lot of fun! 😀
If you want to do lifestyle posts I’m down to read them! 🙂

    1. Yes … and I feel as though I still have so much more to do ha-ha! I’ve decided to go room by room ONE MORE TIME to organize. I just finished the living room today and plan to move on from one room to the next every day this week. I usually do a season clean out but this year I’ve been doing it almost monthly since I know I want to just get rid of a bunch of stuff. And yeah … someone thought I was moving out … it was pretty funny.

It was so much fun! I was so happy to see The East Pointers!

Awe! Thank you for letting me know! They definitely won’t be the focus of my blog; just random things. I would like to do stuff on decor ideas (since I’m always getting asked about my living room decor on insta), photo editing 101 for newbies like me, clothing stuff and what not. I don’t want to stray from book reviews, so I’d probably post one to two lifestyle things a month. We shall see. I have to figure out how I’d want to organize it all lol!

      1. Oh haha! Well, damn that sounds hella productive! You go girl! I believe in you that you’ll get it all done! 😀

Oooohh that sounds interesting. I think maybe make it a segment on your blog or something so it doesn’t take over the book aspect, you know? Whatever you decide I’m sure it’s going to be amazing! 😀 💞

  4. Everyone’s is saying how September was a busy and hectic month! 😀 I’m so glad it’s finally over… pffft, I’m exhausted.

I love your Yoga Junkie mug ❤ and the beddings as well. Instagram approved!!!

Yes! to lifestyle posts. Would love to see what how you've been organizing your home, and fitness routine might finally give me the needed push to exercise more… lol

    1. Oh my gosh yes. I still have lots to do but I think I’ll be okay over this month now.

And thank you! I think I tagged the company for the mug on insta. My old roommate used to buy me mugs from them all the time ha-ha! And thank you! I love minimalist decor.

And thank you for the feedback! I was saying to a few people that I still want this to MAINLY be a book blogging focused blog, but I might do a post or two on lifestyle things. Might start October or wait until November.

      Happy October, darling! xo

      1. I think some Lifestyle bits won’t hurt it 🙂 I actually LOVE lifestyle blogs, and would love to do something like that on my own blog as well, but as of right now all I do is work-home-blog, so there isn’t much to talk about 😀

I really miss Instagram… I meant to take new photos last weekend, but that never happened. I want to switch my theme a bit, so I’m struggling with that atm.

Thank you ❤ Happy witchy October! 🙂

      2. I love them too, especially fitness / travel / home decor / beauty care stuff. I really want to get into a better routine with my skin and hair care, so I search a lot of lifestyle blogs for those kinds things. I feel you though … I think that’s why i might only do one or two posts a month, if that. I’ll definitely do some test cases and see what people think.

Oh man … I’ve switched my theme so many times this year, it’s insane. I finally found one that I REALLY like though … it goes very well with my aesthetic. And I think it will be pretty during the winter too *fingers crossed*

    1. LMAO! I had an epic fail with two posts two days in a row ha-ha!

Awe! Thank you! They used to be all over the place but they’re much better now. I’m not gonna lie, I’m struggling with the last book. i want to love it, but I just want more action and mystery … which the last is lacking in my opinion. I love Charlotte and Jamie … but I want to take a pause on the romance ha-ha.

      Happy October, love!

  6. How did I not know that you lived in Ottawa when I was there last year!? Montreal is one of my possible vacay destinations for next year and the old town looks so stunning.
The desk area for blogging sounds so official haha, but I would love to see how it’s set up, and fair play on the re-organising mission. I feel like I need an overhaul, I just need the time and energy to do so haha.
Thank you so, so much for sharing my post. ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Oh no!!! If you ever visit again, you’ll have to let me know! Old Montreal is BEAUTIFUL! I just did a day trip the other week with my friend and it was so much fun! And thanks for the feedback! I really do want to post more lifestyle stuff soon. I’m thinking more in November ha-ha! And of course! ❤
