Are You Ready For Sweater Weather? The Autumn Tag || Tags & Awards

Hello beautiful people!

I saw Rachael @ Dog-Eared Pages post this wonderful tag and HAD to participate … seriously, fall is the BEST SEASON EVER! Please, please, please make sure to visit Rachael’s blog! She’s an incredible blogger and even more lovely of a human being!

The creator of this EPIC tag is Jenn @ Jenniely! All images used are from Jenniely’s website. I do not own them or did I create them. If you happen to do this tag, please make sure Jenn receives the credit!

The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong ↠ Okay … this is going to seem a little weird, since it’s a YA urban fantasy about teens escaping from these AWFUL scientists. But it’s a story that I TRULY love, fully knowing that when I re-read it that I’ll enjoy it. Oh! And book number two is my favourite, hence why I chose this one.

Pumpkin Carving

|| What is your favourite creative outlet? ||

Bullet Journaling, blogging and book photography ↠ Bullet Journaling is one of those things I got into because I REALLY needed to start organizing my life … and then I just kind of fell in love with it. Blogging is an obvious one ha-ha! But book photography is something I didn’t think I would end up doing. I’m honestly not the BEST at it, but I hope to hone my skills more and more!

Falling Leaves

|| Changes that appear bad but you secretly love? ||

Autumn Leaves

Life || Change in scenery ↠ Honestly, I’m a homebody. I don’t hate change but I also don’t seek it. What I HAVE been finding lately is a change in scenery is healthy and uplifting. Whether it’s trying a new coffee shop or travelling somewhere new, getting out of the house can be rewarding.

Books || Alternating POVs ↠ So I copied Rachael and did an opposite. I honestly think that for the MOST part, alternating POVs are not executed properly. BUT WHEN DONE RIGHT, they can be rather intriguing!

Pumpkin Spaced Latte

|| Something you love that others tend to judge ||

Autumn pumpkin Spiced latte

Life || Solitude ↠ Okay … I’m not a recluse, but I really appreciate the beauty of solitude. There’s just something lovely about planning your day around you and no one else. I obviously love my friends and require social outlets, but solitude is a wonderful thing.

Books || The Chosen One ↠ Yup … I don’t care that people don’t like this trope … I like it, as long as it’s done properly! I don’t really know WHY I love it so much, but I do.

Bonfire Night

|| What makes you explode with joy? ||

Autumn bonfire

SO MANY THINGS ↠ My colleagues joke that I LITERALLY find joy in everything. I’m one of those people you see smelling flowers, gazing up at clouds, yelling for joy about blue skies, counting the stars at night … yup, that’s me. But I’m okay with that! There are, however, two things that come into mind:

Fall Weather ↠ Once that fall weather starts coming in, I’m like a WHOLE new woman! My over-sized sweaters and beanies come out, ready for all the glorious temperatures. The best ever is going for a walk when the leaves begin to change, listening to some folk/indie music.

Christmas Season ↠ I’m honestly a lover of the Christmas season. I love the lights, the glistening snow, the winter activities … all of it. My favourite thing is reading my book on my couch with the Christmas Tree lights and window lights on, drinking my tea or hot cocoa.

Bonus: Whenever my mom visits me ha-ha!

Fright Night

|| Favourite scary film or book ||

Autumn creepy pumpkin skulls candles

Movie || Ghost Hunt & Coraline ↠ I’m not gonna lie … I don’t like scary things ha-ha! Like, I do enjoy haunted walks and hay rides, and jump-scare video games … but I would never do or watch these things on my own. However, Ghost Hunt and Coraline are fairly freaky in my personal opinion (those button eyes). Ghost Hunt is an anime series that’s SUPER SCARY! I love it but have to watch it during the day … I once binged it at night … and couldn’t sleep … but it’s so good. And I don’t even think I need to justify why Coraline is scary … BUTTON EYES!

Book || The Cainsville Series by Kelley Armstrong ↠ Again, this isn’t classified as horror … but it’s actually really creepy at points! Body parts appearing randomly, spooky ghosts, a freaky asylum … I definitely jumped and looked over my shoulder during my read through ha-ha!

Halloween Candy

|| Favourite thing to eat ||

Autumn Halloween Candy

Baked Goods & Sushi ↠ Ummm … I’m a foodie … so this is hard. After I had to get my gallbladder removed, I began to grow a number of stomach issues *sigh*. Like Rachael, I eat a primarily plant based diet (eggs and fish are included though). However, I do enjoy baked good (especially at these local vegan restaurants) and sushi … there’s so many vegan options now!

|| Your autumn ‘must have’ accessory ||

Autumn Scarf accessiories

Beanie & Over-Sized Sweaters  ↠ Let’s be real here, my entire wardrobe focuses around the fall weather … hence why I hibernate in the summer. But my go-to’s are definitely over-sized knit pattern sweaters and beanies … I’m known as the Queen of Beanies, I’ll have you know.

|| A book or film that burns your soul ||

Books on Fire Autumn

Like Rachael, I’m assuming this is POSITIVE. So things that warm my soul are …

Film || Friends ↠ If you don’t know already, I’m quite LITERALLY obsessed with Friends … it’s a borderline issue. I just love the feels and happiness and comical moments. When I feel anxious and need a break from the awful things in the world, I watch this show.

Book || The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling ↠ Well … I feel as though THIS was an obvious one. I can’t help it though! This book makes me feel so wonderful, daydreaming about getting my own Hogwarts letter. Typing this is REALLY making me want to re-read the books sooner rather than later …

Toffee Apples

|| A book or film that seems one thing but really has a different inside ||

Autumn Toffee apples

The Charlotte Holmes series by Brittany Cavallaro ↠ Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy this series … but I thought it would be more crime fighting and mystery solving. However, the primary focus seems to be about Jamie and Charlotte’s friendship/romance. This is fine and all, but I wish I knew that going in.

The Nominees

      1. I know!! It seems like EVERYONE is in Autumn right now 😂 I’m in Aussie-land so our Autumn starts on March 1. Christmas here is usually summery and hot! My fam spend it at the beach 🏖

  1. You know I’m stealing this tag… Hard agree on the Charlotte Holmes series. I really wanted them to be crime-solving buddies and not a couple. How hard would it have been to make Charlotte ace/aro?

    1. LMAO! Oooo yes … we DO play book tag with one another a lot. And yes … I’m struggling to finish the last one. it’s not that I hate the series … I actually rather enjoy it. But I was going into this thinking it was a mystery … not a romance novel. I don’t MIND if there’s romance … but NOT AS THE MAIN THEME! Blarg …

  2. Ahhh first off…these are the cutest graphics?? I’m such a Christmas lover too. Once the weather gets colder my entire mood and happiness changes 🙂 I also really enjoy the chosen one trope when it’s done well ❤ and ooooo sushiiiii i love it so so much!!

    1. I know! She did a great job. She always has these really adorable graphics, which I’m rather envious of.

Oh yes … Fall and Winter are my go-to seasons. I DO get tired of the gigantic amounts of snow we get by about February … but I still enjoy it. And it gets pretty cold sometimes, but that’s just an excuse to stay inside and bundle up!

  4. Oh, Christmas… I used to love Christmas (and I still do, just not as much as before). Ever since I moved to Portugal where we don’t get any snow what-so-ever, and the last couple of Christmases were too sunny for my liking (I was wearing a T-Shirt during the day!!!!!),it kinda lost that appeal to me.
Things I used to love the most were the Christmas weather (that does require snow!), wearing gloves and beanies, and chunky boots… Oh well, I still try to make it as “Christmassy” as possible by lighting up tons of candles and wrapping up too many gifts 😀

  5. Coraline! I don’t know why but buttons are so scary haha. And I really enjoy alternating POVs too although as you say they have to be done right. When I can’t tell one character from another it ruins the story.

  6. Yay! I’ve been looking for a tag to do this and this one is going to work out perfectly so thank you, Jenna, ❤

I have to agree completely with your last answer. The Charlotte Holmes series definitely seemed like it was going to be something else and turned out to be completely different. I did enjoy their relationship but it takes up a lot more of the book than I thought. I'd really love to get a novella just about Charlotte though since she was such a compelling character.

  7. Ah this is such a lovely tag, I loved your answers so much ❤ I also like the Chosen One trope as long as it's done well, some people are kind of sick with it, but personally I still enjoy it haha 🙂 and yees to friends, forever and always a comfort to go back to ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. I do too. I think people get sick of it because I don’t think it’s done well that often. I feel like the Chosen One ends up being this completely perfect character, which I find boring. I like flawed characters, for they appear more real. AND YES!!!!! I’m currently on season 5 I think? I’m always binging it.

  8. I read The Awakening YEARS ago and loved it! The entire series was enjoyable. I love stories about necromancy, and Armstrong is one of my favorites! Have you read some of her other stuff? Sea of Shadows is one of my favorites.

My kids love Coraline, even though I think it’s super spooky for that age group, haha. New follower on Twitter and Instagram! Do you have a Bloglovin’? That’s how I keep up with the blogs I follow! ❤

    1. Armstrong’s amazing! I love her works! Sea of Shadows is pretty good, but I wasn’t a fan of the final book. I didn’t like all the attention mainly on one sister over the other, especially since she wasn’t my favourite twin ha-ha! I just wasn’t as IN LOVE with the characters as I am with The Darkest Powers cast. Have you read Cainsville? It’s pretty good (the ending is kind of meh but the rest of the story makes up for it). I actually don’t have Bloglovin’! I’ve been looking into it but just haven’t had the time ha-ha. And thank you! I’m going to take a gander at your site as well! ❤

  10. I’m the same way with horror things! And I did think Coraline was creepy as hell… Nightmare Before Christmas and other Tim Burton-y movies also freak me out quite a bit and I’m not sure why xD
I love this time of year and couldn’t relate more to most things in this post – thank you so much for tagging me! I’ll try and get it done soon ❤
Great answers, by the way! I've heard a lot about Kelley Armstrong and read a short story by her recently that definitely made me super curious to try her out… So thanks for the rec!

    1. Ha-ha! I’m glad I’m not alone! To be fair, Burton’s films are SUPER creepy. I think because they’re either cheesy or claymation, they don’t scare me as much. Of course!! I hope you enjoy doing this tag! She’s amazing! I highly recommend “Darkest Powers” first if you’re going to read her works!
