Hello beautiful people!
Oh yes … I exist … hi! With having a social life now (yes … I’m shocked too), being a little sick and gosh knows what else … Bookmark Your Thoughts has been set aside slightly this month. But I’m HOPING to get back into the swing of things December and January (yes … the two WORST months to start that, but we shall see how it goes).
Oh Sofii — how can you be even more of a bigger sweetheart than you already are?! Sofii @ A Book. A Thought. tagged me in The Mystery Blogger Award. Thank you so much, darlin’! She’s SUCH an amazing blogger … but she’s also a legit sweetheart. Even when she gets mountains of comments and messages, she really tries to take the time and respond to everyone! So if you aren’t following her … you need to fix that.

One. Have you ever felt so identified with a character that you end up picturing it as yourself?
Funny enough, I do! Lara Jean from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han and Ponyboy Curtis from The Outiders by S.E. Hinton. It freaks me out how much I relate to these characters, both how I was as a teenager and who I am today. From being a daydreamer to being a lover of books, I still don’t think there are any other characters that I relate to more than these two.
Two. What thoughts do you have about ARCs?
Ummm … I guess I like them? Ha-ha! Well obviously, since I do receive and accept them. I think it’s a smart way for authors to get their books out in the public, since more people than I originally thought check book blogs for reviews (and other sources, such as Goodreads).
But I think one thing both authors and bloggers need to realize is that we don’t HAVE to say yes … and we aren’t always going to like their novels. I’m pretty honest in my reviews and I’ve been VERY lucky to have had a lot of authors who literally say “awesome points … please post it!” when my opinion isn’t the most POSITIVE.
Three. Do you think that a person who gives 5 stars to everything reads is questionable? What’s your thought about giving low ratings?
Sofii … what is with the hard questions?! I honestly don’t even know what I think about ratings in general someday’s ha-ha! I like using them to organize, but a basic 1 to 5 star rating is rather difficult! Everyone rates VERY differently. When I review, I try to judge base off of a number of elements: did I like it? does the book actually cover what it should cover? the writing and pacing?
So I guess my answer is … I have no clue lmao! I don’t really critique how others rate since it’s so subjective. I think as long as your really honest with how you feel, then the rating you choose is good.
Four. Name 3 book bloggers that inspire you!
Sofii — you’re legit killing me here! THERE ARE TOO MANY!!!! Honestly, there are so many bloggers that I ENVY BEYOND BELIEF! I’m listing bloggers who’s aesthetic and organization skills are similar to what I look for with my own blog:
And honestly, this list doesn’t even come CLOSE to representing everyone.
Five. Can an author’s reputation affect your thinking about his books?
I think an author’s reputation more affects whether I want to support them by purchasing their books rather than my thoughts ON their books. An author could be the most prejudice person ever, yet still have good writing and story telling skills. There are a LARGE number of classic writers who’s novels I love but then discovered later in life that they were sexist or racist or … all the above and more. It’s a shame, to be frank.
The Nominees & Questions
I’m using Sofii’s questions because I’m trying to play catch up right now ha-ha! And I’m only nominating three people:
