Taylor Swift Lover Book Tag || Tags & Awards

Hello beautiful people!

I feel slightly like an outcast for this tag … because I’m not a LOVER of Taylor Swift … SORRY! I actually don’t mind a number of her songs, but she’s not in my top 100 artists.

NEVERTHELESS, I REFUSE to NOT do a book tag due to this! And it still looks like a lot of fun ha-ha!

Thank you SO MUCH Nish and Ngoc over @ Nish and Ngoc’s Book Nook for tagging me in their original tag … the Taylor Swift Lover Book Tag! These two lovely humans are incredible! They’re very welcoming, sweet and provide a great wealth of knowledge to the book community through their posts. So PLEASE make sure to visit their website!

Side Note to Nish and Ngoc : I know … you tagged me in this back in August … and it’s December now … I’m VERY sorry! In addition, please do not hate me forever for not being a Swift Lover!!!

The Rules

↠ Link back to the original creators of the book tag.
↠ Thank the person that tagged you and link to their post.
↠ TAG AS MANY SWIFTIES AS YOU WANT! (Or non-Swifties, maybe inspire them to listen to our Queen)

I Forgot That You Existed

|| A book that you want to forget you ever read ||

“It isn’t love, it isn’t hate, it’s just indifference”

14942. sy475

Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf ↠ To be fair, I haven’t used this book in a while for a book tag prompt like this. But seriously … I don’t get how people like this novel. I’m glad people do, but HOW?!?! It’s so DULL!

Cruel Summer

|| A book you turn to when the going gets rough ||

“Killing me slow, out the window. Always waiting for you to be waiting below.”

The Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong ↠ Honestly, I can’t even really fully figure out why I turn to this series when I’m feeling down or stressed. I loved this book growing up, still loving to re-read it. I think it’s because reading it GIVES me those happy memories from once upon a time, and it’s not an overly complicated read.

|| Your book OTP ||

“Can I go where you go? Can we always be this close forever and ever?”

29283884. sy475

Monty and Percy from the Montague Siblings series by Mackenzi Lee ↠ I can’t help it … I just LOVE these two so much! I love that slow burn they have, where the audience fully knows how they feel but they are still figuring things out. I also like how their connection isn’t perfect … but it’s real and raw and passionate. Even with their differences, they care for one another.

The Man

|| Your fave kick-ass female protagonist ||

“I’m so sick of running as fast as I can. Wondering if I’d get there quicker if I was a man.”

Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins ↠ Yup … pretty sure I’m repeating myself from a recent tag … but oh well! She’s honestly such an amazing female lead. Though the movies are not bad, I LOVE her character development in the novels so much more. She’s a strong and fierce woman, but she has her flaws and insecurities … reminding reader that she IS in-fact, human.

And those fighting skills?! Epic! Special shout out to Inej from Six of Crows though … probably my second favourite (sometimes my first depending on the day ha-ha).

The Archer

|| A book with good mental health representation ||

“All the king’s horses, all the king’s men couldn’t put me back together again. ‘Cause all of my enemies started out friends.”

32075671. sy475

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas ↠ Starr’s struggle to cope with the horrors she’s faced are highlighted very well in this novel. The read really FEELS the PTSD she’s going through: night terrors, scared in public places, being nervous around police officers, fear of the unknown, etc. But the novel also shows how we have the ability and strength to overcome these experiences, that they don’t define us.

I Think He Knows

|| Your face fictional crush ||

“I want you, bless my soul, and I ain’t gotta tell him, I think he knows”

28757261. sy475

George Weasley from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling ↠ Again … I always have a hard time with this, since I don’t know if I get crushes on the actual characters. I like their traits and qualities, and would love to see those in someone that I’m with in real life. Any who, I do love George Weasley’s funny and open personality. Though him and his brother are similar, I always like George’s humour more, poking fun at himself. He’s also a bit more of a sweetie between the two. But really … they’re both amazing!

Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince

|| Fave angsty romance ||

“It’s you and me, there’s nothing like this. Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince. We’re so sad, we paint the town blue. Voted most likely to run away with you.”

41150487. sy475

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston ↠ This romance … is so good … that I’ve already re-read the novel … *swoon*! Honestly, Alex and Henry are just dolls — McQuiston’s steady exploration of these two as individuals and together just adds even more angst! I love it!

Paper Rings

|| Book with an ugly cover that you absolutely adored ||

“I love shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings”

I’m sure there is one … but I have NO clue right now … sorry!

Cornelia Street

|| A book or series you never want(ed) to end ||

“I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends”

Again … not 100 % sure on this one. There are a NUMBER of books that in the moment, I wish would never end. But after a couple of days, I’m glad the author stopped … I swear, sometime they just don’t know when to STOP a series.

Death By A Thousand Cuts

|| A book or series that deserved a better ending ||

“I can’t pretend it’s okay when it’s not, it’s death by a thousand cuts”

Divergent series by Veronica Roth ↠ Oh yes … I’m stealing Nish’s answer. Allegiant, the final book in this series, made me SO MAD! Honestly, it’s been YEARS and I’m STILL not over it. I actually did the same thing as Nish and threw the book across the room … I was THAT mad.

London Boy

|| Your fave British male protagonist ||

“They say home is where the heart is, but God, I love the English”

Ummm … I feel REALLY bad … but I actually have no clue ha-ha! And I feel like saying Harry Potter is a cop-out, so I’m jsut going to say I have absolutely no idea!

Soon You’ll Get Better

|| A book that your heart will never recover from ||

“This won’t go back to normal, if it ever was. It’s been years of hoping…”

40940121. sy475

Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Patterson ↠ The last time I read this, I was in late elementary school. To this day, the thought of this book STILL makes me cry … and the movie too. This book is truly a beautiful story, but that doesn’t make it any less painful. Patterson … why you gotta break me?!

False God

|| A character you would leap into the burning pits of hell to save ||

“We were crazy to think, crazy to think that this could work. Remember how I said I’d die for you.”

Pooh Bear from Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne ↠ I would do anything to save that silly ol’ bear. I love him so much! I don’t know WHY he would be burning in the pits of hell … maybe be found a magical door and started exploring other realms.

You Need To Calm Down

|| A book with a powerful message ||

“Say it in the street, that’s a knock out. But you say it in a Tweet, that’s a cop-out.”

28919058. sy475

Autoboyography by Christina Lauren ↠ This book moved me in so many ways … it’s so hard to put it into words (this review was ROUGH to write). I love how the authors explore so many topics yet still keep it all neatly together without making the reader feel overwhelmed. But what I love is that this novel highlighted the importance of acceptance, openness, non-judgmental attitudes and living life to the fullest. HIGHLY recommend.

|| A book you want to give a second chance ||

“Hey, it’s all me, in my head. I’m the one who burned us down. But it’s not what I meant. Sorry that I hurt you.”

The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater ↠ I’m copying Nish on this one. I read the first book and it was okay … then I tried the second and just COULDN’T get into it … but I want to be apart of this fan group! I think a lot of it had to do with her writing style, so I want to try maybe listening to some music and such to get me more into the novel. I MAY try again early 2020 (Marija — I’ll promise to at least try.

|| Best character development ||

“I’m the only one of me. Baby, that’s the fun of me.”

There are WAY too many that I can’t choose … so I’m being bad and opting out … #sorrynotsorry

It’s Nice To Have A Friend

|| Fave friends-to-lovers story ||

School bells ring, walk me home…something gave you the nerve to touch my hand…Church bells ring, carry me home.”

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz ↠ This book … moved me … beyond words … seriously. I love Ari and Dante’s connection in this novel. It feels so authentic and genuine … but the ever-growing feelings for one another is slow and intense and powerful. I just adore this story so much!

|| If you could only read one book or series again and again, what would it be? ||

“I don’t wanna look at anything else now that I saw you. I don’t wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you.”

Akatsuki no Yona series by Mizuho Kusanagi ↠ Originally, I was thinking Harry Potter … but the benefit about THIS series is that it’s SO LONG! I can re-read this so many times and still discover things I missed the other times I read it. So yes … gonna have to go with this one!

|| If you could only read one book or series again and again, what would it be? ||

Tag! You’re it!

To be frank, I don’t know who are Taylor Swift fans and who aren’t, but you don’t really need to be a fan to still have fun with this. And as always, there’s no pressure to participate:

  1. I’ve had The Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong on my shelf for years but haven’t read them yet. I bought them on a whim when it was in sale as a set. I’m keen to give them a try now though! Awesome post, even if you’re not a total Swift fan! 😄

  2. This is a great tag, even though I’m personally not a fan of Taylor Swift either. I like a bit of her early music but that is it. I don’t know what it is, but her newer stuff irritates me.

    I also totally agree about saving Pooh bear! I would do anything for that hopeful, friendly, imaginative bear! He is the epitome of my childhood and I will never let him or any of the other Hundred Acre Wood characters go.

  3. This is the perfect tag for me, I LOVE Taylor so thank you SO SO much for tagging me, honey, you always have the best tags! 🥰 🥰
    Autoboyography is such a powerful book, I’m happy to have read it and all thanks to you & I hope to read Red, White & Royal Blue this month and if not, it will be one of my priorities for next month, I’d never heard so many wonderful things about a book so I’m very intrigued to know how I’ll feel about it, I hope to enjoy it as much as everyone *fingers crossed*
    I hope you’re having the best day, beautiful! ❤️

  4. Oh my god Bridge to Terabithia, I’m still broken and sad and so upset about this story ah; I just didn’t see it coming at all and ah, I cried so so hard!
    I’m also forever mad at how Allegiant ended, ugh, why did it have to be like this? 😦
    Agree on the romance, too, I loved Red, White And Royal Blue so much, I really want to re-read it now 🙂

  5. This must have taken a while to choose from all the books you’ve read! I wasn’t a fan of Taylor from when she started but her 1989 album changed that 😀

  6. So many fun answers as always, Jenna!! ❤ I will NEVER recover from Bridge to Terabithia! It's such a sweet and heartbreaking book. I love the precious characters in it so much, and the story is so endearing. Why must it torture me at the same time? I would definitely recommend giving the Raven Cycle another go! It's one of my favorite series! It's a bit difficult to get into at first, but it's absolutely incredible once you become hooked!

  7. HAHAHA Jenna, we’re so happy you still did the tag despite Taylor not being one of your faves (and dw, HEAPS of our closest friends aren’t fans of her 😂) Monty & Percy are GOALS – I loved that we got to see a little bit of them in the sequel as well 😍 Also loving how this tag has unearthed so much dissent about the ending of Allegiant because it’s been so long & I’m STILL salty about it!

    I read Autoboyography last year & OHMYGOSH I can’t believe I waited that long! It’s so beautiful & if I could make everyone read it, I truly would!

    Thanks for doing the tag, I loved reading your answers!! 😍
