Ringing in the New Year Book Tag (2020 Edition)

Hello beautiful people! Welcome to the year 2020! Can you all believe it’s already 2020? I sure can’t. I feel as though this HAS to be a lucky year for everyone … just saying and typing 2020 flows so well. And yes … I’m basing this years luck ENTIRELY on the concept that the phrase “2020” sounds aesthetically pleasing.

This will be my third year in a row completing this fun challenge … it’s just a really cool way to look back at the previous year and to get excited about what’s to come in the new year!

And I just want to say … thank you everyone for making 2019 an even more epic year. Getting to know you all and being a part of this community has always been grand, but it just keeps getting better and better. I hope you all had a lovely 2019 and are ready to make 2020 an even more epic time!

↠ Answer the questions below.
↠ Tag 3 to 5 people.

Best book/series that you’ve read in 2019

Authors that you’ve recently found and would like to read more of in the new year

Abbie Emmons | Wilder Poetry | Rupi Kaur | Emily Wibberley | Austin Siegemund-Broka

Most anticipated book turned movie?

Honestly? There aren’t really any that I’m SUPER excited about. There’s a few that I will probably watch when they release on DVD, but nothing over the top exciting.

Name a character that you wouldn’t mind sharing a kiss with at midnight (if there is one)

Every year … I say the SAME THING … none. Again, I always feel like the odd one out. Am I supposed to feel that towards fictional characters?

What’s on your TBR for 2020? (Top 5 will suffice if it’s an EXTREMELY long list)

How many books do you hope to read in 2020?

My goal for 2019 was originally 52 … but I moved it down to 50 when I realized that I just wasn’t going to finished that in time. I still beat my reads from 2018, which was 41 books. So for 2020, I think I’m going to start with 40 and go from there — with French training and fitness and a social life and a number of plans I know coming my way, I don’t want to feel TOO pressured to get to 50. BUT if I surpass 40, I’ll definitely keep going and aim for higher! If I HAD the time … I’d say 100 books … but that’s a pipe dream. I’m looking into more audiobooks for 2020, so maybe this will help me out.

Will you participate in the Goodreads Reading Challenge (or any others)?

Oh yes … I love the Goodreads Challenge. Even if I don’t complete it, the challenge helps me track where I’m at. I also want to use it to see if there are any patterns, such as if I tend to read more or less during certain months or times of the year.

Any New Year’s Resolutions? (bookish and otherwise)

To be frank, I don’t really believe in New Year’s resolutions … why wait until the new year when you can make changes today? But I have goals in general that I’d like to complete — I’m only going to list my book blog ones though. Below are my 2019 goals and my new ones for 2020 — crossed out items have been accomplished and italicized items are in progress:

You are so not alone because I feel the same way about fictional characters! I never have an answer for who my “crush” is. 😛

    1. Happy New Year, love!! I know, eh?! It has to be a lucky year ha-ha!

Thank you!! I’m so glad people like them! I really wanted to do my January one ASAP, but Canada Post is super backed up so i haven’t gotten my new journal yet 😦

Good luck with yours as well! Here’s to 2020!

      1. Oh! I stuck with Archer & Olive ❤ They're (in my opinion) one of the best journals, especially when it comes to not ghosting or bleeding through the pages. They're kind of expensive, but it's worth it to me. Still need to think of a theme for my January layout … probably something really simple since I'll have to rush it ha-ah!

  4. Happy new year to you Jenna, I hope that this one will be amazing!! 🙂 I’m so happy to see If I’m Being Honest here and Time of Our Lives, SO pumped for this book. I’m also very excited to read Emma Mills’ new book!! 🙂

  5. I read Autoboyography, If I’m Being Honest, and RW&RB all this year and loved them! Clearly I love a good romance novel, lol. I’m glad you enjoyed them as well!
Haha, I kind of relate to not feeling towards fictional characters, but kind of not as well? Usually I fall in platonic love with them. XD But I usually want them to end up with whoever they end up with so bad that it feels wrong to put myself in the equation…plus, they’re fictional.
I’m so looking forward to the new Emma Mills book! I’m already intrigued because the cover is different than all her others? (I love it though.)

    1. Oh my gosh yes!!! They’re so goooooood!! I never thought I liked romance … Because I actually use to hate them. Now? Totally loving them. I think because the ones I read are also about other important things like family dynamics and personal growth and other social issues, ya know?

Awe. Platonic love I totally get! Like, I love Lara Jean with all my heart. She’d be my friend if we went to the same school and she was real 😅

Oh my gosh!! So excited for Emma Mills!!!! I noticed that too! But it’s still gorgeous!!

  6. Wonderful post, Jenna!!! Oh my gosh, your instagram aesthetic is the cutest! I can’t imagine how you could work on it to make it even more gorgeous! Haha! ❤ I can't wait for Lucky Caller and Emily and Austin's newest book either! I have super high expectations for both! Hehe! I'm sure you'll be able to surpass you reading goal this year, and that you'll be able to make progress on and achieve your other goals!! Best of luck! ❤
