Down the TBR Hole #23 || Book Meme

Hello beautiful people!

FINALLY! A post where I feel like I actually accomplished decluttering my TBR pile! I’m actually REALLY excited and curious to see your thoughts, since I think I removed a few that will definitely have some people shocked — as much as I love you all … #sorrynotsorry . I NEED TO DECLUTTER

Have fun and enjoy!

The Creator and the Rules

This was created by Lia @ Lost in a Story — she has a new blog though called Sunflowers and Wonder!

  1. Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf
  2. Order on ascending date added.
  3. Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books.
  4. Read the synopses of the books.
  5. Decide: keep it or should it go?
  6. Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Book #181 | Whiskey Rebellion (Book #1) by Liliana Hart

Date Added: May 12, 2017

Synopsis: My name is Addison Holmes, and I teach history at James Madison High School in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia. You might be under the assumption that my life went to the dogs when my fiance left me at the altar for the home economics teacher, or when I got notice that my apartment building was going to be condemned, or even when I was desperate enough to strip to my unmentionables to earn some extra cash. The truth is that I’m pretty much used to disasters following me around on a daily basis, but I could have gone without finding my principal dead in the parking lot of a seedy gentlemen’s club […]

Verdict: GO

Though it seems that the series gets better and better as it progresses, I just have no attachment to the synopsis — it doesn’t grab my attention enough, so I’m letting this one go.

Book #182 | A Court of Thorns and Roses (Book #1) by Sarah J. Maas

Date Added: May 18, 2017

Synopsis: Feyre’s survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price …

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest […]

Verdict: GO

… yup … I’m ready for a number of you to be completely and utterly shocked. I can’t help it! I kept her other series on my TBR list AND I think I’m going to give Crescent City a try, but after reading a number of reviews — I’m just not intrigued enough, especially since this is a LONG series!

Book #183 | Missing by Kelley Armstrong

Date Added: May 18, 2017

Synopsis: The only thing Winter Crane likes about Reeve’s End is that soon she’ll leave it. Like her best friend did. Like her sister did. Like most of the teens born in town have done. There’s nothing for them there but abandoned mines and empty futures. They’re better off taking a chance elsewhere.

The only thing Winter will miss is the woods. Her only refuge. At least it was. Until the day she found Lennon left for dead, bleeding in a tree […]

Verdict: KEEP

Even though I KNOW I’m going to be SUPER SCARED the entire time I read this, it’s Kelley Armstrong!!! I have a goal to eventually read ALL of her works, so I have to keep this one.

Book #184 | Melt My Heart, Cowboy (Book #1) by C.J. Carmichael

Date Added: May 19, 2017

Synopsis: Who is the handsome cowboy who comes into small town Marietta’s chocolate shop every week to buy a box of chocolates? More importantly…who is he buying the chocolates for? These are the questions sales clerk Rosie Linn asks herself as she waits for her sadly neglected childhood home to sell so she can pursue an exciting new career in L.A.

Rosie finds out the answers the day rugged ranch hand Brant Willingham introduces himself and asks for her help in managing the care of his younger sister […]

Verdict: GO

I’m all for a cheesy romance story every so often, but after re-reading the synopsis — there’s just nothing grabbing my attention. I have enough cute romance stories on my TBR list at the moment anyways.

Book #185 | A Christmas Gift (Book #1) by Stella Wilkinson

Date Added: May 19, 2017

Synopsis: Holly and Caleb had been best friends as children, growing up on the same street, but as teenagers they couldn’t be further apart. When Caleb unexpectedly asked Holly to help him pick out a Christmas gift for his girlfriend, neither of them anticipated where it would lead.

Verdict: GO

The reviews aren’t the GREATEST for this book/series, so I’m going to pass this time around. Wilkinson does seem to have some other romantic comedy books that have a higher rating, so I might try one of those instead!
