The Birthday Book Tag || Tags & Awards

Hello beautiful people!

Oh yes — that’s right — as of March 27 at 3:33 AM — your fellow book lover just turned 29-years-old today! What a wonderful 29 years it’s been — full of laughter, fun and gosh knows how many shenanigans. Truly though, I’ve been so blessed in life, surrounded by so many amazing and epic people (this includes you peeps too, you know)!

Honestly, it DOES kind of stink a bit that I’m stuck at home due to the self-isolation going on. But it’s still going to be a great day! My SO has promised me french toast for dinner, a movie night of my choice (probably Tangled or Gremlins) and we might try to do a group chat with some friends to make it more special!

I’ve learned so much about myself in my 20’s … it’s pretty incredible. But one of the best things regarding my 20’s is that I started book blogging — which led me to connect with all of you amazing people while also rejuvenating my love of literature once again! Honestly though, I really want to thank you all for being so supportive and amazing — I absolutely adore this community. You people make me so happy to be apart of this grand collection of individuals! Even if I disappear for a bit, I always feel this NEED to come back because I miss you all so much every time! SO here’s to MANY more years of blogging and geeking out over books with one another!

So … to celebrate this special day, I decided to do The Birthday Book Tag, which I found on Sofii @ A Book. A Thoughts.’s blog when she celebrated her amazing special day back in February!!! The creator of this tag is Kristy @ The Bibliophile Girl!

Birthday Cake

A book with a plot that seems cliche but you adore it anyway

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Seriously — this trilogy fits cliche like no other — but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing! Though there are some things that bothered me in the series, I truly adored watching Lara Jean’s character develop from book to book — she’s just so quirky and adorable!

Party Quests

Your most anticipated book release this year

Time of Our Lives by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka

Yes — I know — you are all probably SICK of seeing me go on and on about how excited I am for this book — BUT I CAN’T HELP IT! I loved If I’m Being Honest by these two authors, so I have no doubt in my mind that I will adore this one! I LEGIT pre-ordered it the beginning of January 2020 because I’m THAT excited.

Birthday Presents

A book that surprised you with how much you loved it

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix. E Harrow

After seeing so many mixed reviews, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about Harrow’s book when I first went into it — but that writing! OH MY GOSH! I feel absolutely in-love with Harrow’s story — I desperately need this author to release another novel sooner rather than later …

The Happy Birthday Song

A book that certainly deserved all the hype it got

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

This book — OHMYGOODNESS!!!!!! I can’t get OVER how much I fell in love with not only the story, but SO MANY of the characters! I really didn’t want this to end; I could continue to read about so many of their adventures and shenanigans without EVER getting bored! Thank you ALL for pushing me to read this … because it was one of the highlight reads for me in 2019!

Happy Music

A book with some very beautiful and truly memorable quotes

Nocturnal by Wilder Poetry

For those who feel lost or confused, or simply just love to read beautiful poetry — this poetry collection is for you. I read this at a perfect moment in my life. Though I have a lot of FANTASTIC days, there are times when I feel suffocated. Nocturnal helped me a lot during this time, showing me how to heal and see the beauty in everything through so many wonderful and memorable quotes/poems.

Getting Older

A book that you read a long time ago, but you think that you would appreciate it more if you read it as a more mature reader

The Giver by Lois Lowry

To be frank, I really appreciated this back when I read this in elementary school — but I don’t think I had a FULL grasp of just how intense and dark the content is — how grateful I should be for the freedom and privileges I have today. I would love to re-read this one day, simply to see if I have a better or even just a different understanding of Lowry’s book over a decade later!

Sweet Birthday Memories

A book that kept you incredibly happy during a sad or demanding period of your life

Light Filters in: Poems by Caroline Kaufman

Alright — this was actually a book I really needed early this year (2020). I’m not going to dive into my life story, but the year started off with a LOT to digest and mentally prepare for. But this book helped make things a little better. Just reading Kaufman’s discussion of healing and letting go showed me that I have more control in my life — that even though there are things that still effect me, they don’t control me.

Thank you all again!

Just a final thank you for being so wonderful to me over the past 3 years — yes, it’s been THAT long ha-ha! I can’t begin to express my love for you all! So have a wonderfully, magical day — and happy reading!

  5. Happy Belated Birthday, Jenna! Hope you had an awesome night despite the self-isolation situation πŸ₯³TATBILB is just unapologetically cliche & I think that’s part of its charm πŸ˜› Also I can’t believe I *still* haven’t read Red, White & Royal Blue yet – guess there’s no time like the present now that we’re all in quarantine! πŸ˜‚
