November 2020 || Monthly Wrap Up

Hello beautiful people! Welcome to another monthly wrap up! I haven’t been AS active this month, but I still wanted to do a wrap up to showcase some lovely posts and keep some kind of schedule going. I will say … I’m SO READY FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS!

Have any of you started watching winter holiday films? Decorating?

Jenna’s ‘Out of Book’ Adventures

We moved up a phase! With our COVID numbers going down and then plateauing, we’ve been given the go-ahead to open up stores and such again. The ONLY place I’ve REALLY gone to is Chapters … I need to browse the bookstore! It’s also nice being able to see people “social distance-wise” again.

The BIGGEST thing for me this month was my partner and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary together! We ordered in from the restaurant we went to on our first date, watched Zombieland II (the movie we saw on our first date), and ate yummy treats! He also bought me a BEAUTIFUL gold star necklace … and yes, I cried when he gave it to me.

Other than that, we haven’t done too much. We’ve been watching a FEW holiday films and such, but I mainly read or play video games while he watches shows or watches football. We have a perfect system. I also spent WAY too much on books and Sims 4 this month … which was NOT wise, since Christmas is around the corner … ugh!

Books I Read

Guess who got to 4 books this month?! That’s right! It’s been WONDERFUL getting back into reading. I still get into some reading slumps, but 4 books in a month is HUGE for me … especially this year. And honestly, there hasn’t been one that’s REALLY disappointed me. They’ve either been good or fantastic!

I technically started Let’s Talk about Love in October, but I’m still counting it towards this month’s read. It’s a super adorable read, one I highly recommend. Take a Hint, Dani Brown was just … ugh … the swoon-factor was on point; I don’t want to have to wait until March 2021 for the third book! Serious Moonlight started off a little slow, to the point I almost DNF’d it. But then it suddenly became FREAKIN’ PHENOMENAL! A tissue box nearby is required. And finally … my all-time favourite novel this month … Forever Wild*trying not to cry*. I’m so devastated that this series has come to an end … I am NOT READY TO SAY GOODBYE!

Book Reviews

Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, Book One) by Talia Hibbert

Brief Thoughts: “Hibbert’s Get a Life, Chloe Brown is a wake-up call … showing readers to take charge of your own life. Don’t wait for that PERFECT moment or when THE TIME IS RIGHT; live your best life in the best way you can. Life’s going to through you curveballs, like failed relationships and chronic illness. But Hibbert’s message tells readers there’s still more to do … room to grow … life to live … even if it doesn’t feel that way.”

Heartstopper: Volume Three (Heartstopper, Book Three) by Alice Oseman

Brief Thoughts: “Oseman’s Heartstopper: Volume Three is a BEAUTIFUL continuation of Oseman’s romance graphic novel series. There are so many great things about this novel, making this a really hard review to write. Oseman explores so much, making this almost an educational experience. And I LOVED getting to know the side characters more, making the story feel so much bigger than when it was originally focused on Nick and Charlie. Tara and Darcy have slowly become my new favourite couple, full of laughter and love. And getting to know more about Tao and Elle was really exciting. Honestly, I can’t wait to see where everyone’s story continues in the next volume of Heartstopper.”

Let’s Talk about Love by Claire Kann

Brief Thoughts: “Kann’s Let’s Talk About Love is an adorable romance novel, with a different take on love in the romance genre world. Reading a book with an asexual main character was a new yet fun experience, especially since I’m eager to learn more about different sexual identities. Another wonderful thing about this book is the focus on friendship and family — both blood related and creating your own family. Though a number of elements are not properly closed off by the end of the novel, it felt right to end it this way. The characters and their different relationships all still have room for improvement and growth … and these things take time.”

Spreading Love Around the Blogosphere

I WISH I was more active this month to share some more amazing posts … but video games have taken over my life! I actually want to start sharing some posts from YouTube, like book blogger posts and Sims related (if people are actually interested in that). Anyway, here are some great posts from this month!

  1. Congrats on you and your partners 1 year!! It sounds like you had a lovely time celebrating! ♥ I read Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennet last month and am still kinda on the fence about her writing, but have been so tempted to pick up Serious Moonlight because it sounds super cute!! You might have just convinced me (: Hope you have the best December! ♥

  2. “Video games have taken over my life” feels like a perfect summary of my month too. I’ve been sucked into the world of Hades and for the life of me, I can’t escape haha. Happy 1 year anniversary to you and your partner. Sounds like you guys had a perfect celebration. Everyone keeps recommending Take a Hint, Dani Brown to me and it sounds like such a cute novel. Here’s hoping the year ends on a high for us all.
